Can’t bear Firefox V3.5 any more, so back to V3.0.13, and update to V3.0.14.
But, still slow in its first startup.
Remove lots of plugins, only keep,
1. IE Tab
2. Zotero
3. Xmarks
4. Alexa Sparky
5. Gmail Manager
Maybe all these add-ons is why I like Firefox, and not give up to Maxthon.
Have tested Maxthon which is IE Kernel, two words to describe it “like light”.
But, I do NOT like its Adv in left-bottom status bar.
If, Mathon provide Zotero and Xmarks, and discard its Adv, …………….. Hehe, it’s impossible. It’s more like a company.
After Ubuntu 8.04 updating to Kernel 2.6.24-19-generic, my wireless card is lost and WLAN configuration is invalid.
It spent my 4 hours to solve this problem, the following is summary:
1. Install b43-fwcutter,
sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter
2. Run b43-fwcutter
sudo /usr/share/b43-fwcutter/install_bcm43xx_firmware.sh
3.rmmod
rmmod ndiswrapper
rmmod ssb
rmmod b43
4.modprobe
modprobe ndiswrapper
modprobe ssb
modprobe b43
5. To check wlan0, OK
ifconfig -a
6. Config WLAN
Ubuntu Status bar, left click “Network”, Mannual configuration, unlock, Wireless connection, Properties, WPA, DHCP or IP (depend on your AP), disable LAN, save as a new network location.
Before these steps,
I have updated ndiswrapper to V1.9, both common and util, and found no ndiswrapper in /usr/sbin, so make a link(ln -s).
Reinstall DELL Wireless bcmw15.inf

Today, remove most plugins in Firefox V3.5.2 in order to improve its startup speed.
It seems having no effect after clearing up.
Firefox V3.5.2 starts up slower than IE V6.0, and often crashs.
I have reported many times about the crash related with bookmark’s operation since V2, it’s still in this version.
After you create a bookmark or folder in left side bar, move it immediately, this operation will make Firefox crash.

Firefox V3.5.2 is still in pre-release version, it’s hurry to publish, and harms its reputation.

all of them are active.
Today, new change of iGoogle was found.
I searched google’s help in order to find how can go back old tab style. No answer was found.
This change makes iGoogle displaying with more compact content, it is very difficult to browse now. And, there is a large margin left when scrolling down the page. It’s more like a personal web site, maybe like Laotudou.com. Hehe…………
Left nav bar takes more space and gives little information, make it a failure change according to google adsense’s view.
Google did NOT consider user’s feeling, release such nasty style. It’s NOT google’s style. What happened in Google?
Maybe we should try to use MS’ bing, or other simple search engine, to avoid google imposing more garbage in our little screen in future.

Updated Firefox from 3.0.5 to 3.5.2. It’s a failure update because V3.5 has a long startup and is not compatible with some website. Also it seemed V3.5 want more CPU.

China stock market went down in last 4 days, but USA one wake up.
Baidu.com became the biggest search engine in China, overcoming Google. I didn’t agree with this news until I knew there was still someone only know QQ and Baidu. To those people, Internet is QQ for chatting, and Baidu for game and music.
What does EMC want to do?
IT1999: Oracle has given the world a surprise, now it’s EMC ? Maybe it’s a good choice to buy NetApp, not Data Domain. IBM wanted to buy SUN, why EMC doesn’t want to buy NetApp?

HOPKINTON, Mass. (AP) — Data storage company EMC Corp. said Friday that it extended its offer to buy Data Domain Inc. for $30 per share in an all-cash deal.
The offering now expires at midnight on July 10. Previously, EMC’s offer, which had begun on June 2, was to expire at midnight on Monday.
EMC had said last week that it would refile notice of its offer to buy the data backup and disaster recovery systems provider to ensure federal authorities have time to review it.
Data Domain said June 15 that EMC’s offer is not in the best interest of its shareholders and that it prefers a bid from data storage provider NetApp Inc.
NetApp and Data Domain had said in early June that they reached a deal for Data Domain to be bought for $1.9 billion in cash and stock. NetApp originally offered $1.5 billion, or $25 per share in cash and stock, on May 20, before EMC produced a higher offer of $30 per share.
NetApp later matched EMC’s offer, and Data Domain agreed to NetApp’s new offer.
EMC said about 174,645 common shares of Data Domain — or less than half of a percent of all outstanding common shares — had been tendered by Friday afternoon.

Target: Application root. NTFS partition, need input lot of files, but has limited free disk space.
Object: temporarily mount another directory in another NTFS partition.
