No angry: Can NOT access dropbox any more

May 25th, 2010 admin No comments

There has been several days before I found that dropbox is prohibited.

Oh, another one! This is my current feeling.
No angry, no depression.

A long time no update.
Just recording my feeling about loss of dropbox.

Everyone is used to this situation.

==========
Maybe there is no service provider outside suitalbe for us. We should have our own storage service provider.
But, no one will do without income in this country.
And, we have seen so many cheats in Internet that everybody knows menoy is the goal for any free service.

In another word, we are smart men.

Back to Firefox V3.0.14

September 13th, 2009 admin No comments

Can’t bear Firefox V3.5 any more, so back to V3.0.13, and update to V3.0.14.

But, still slow in its first startup.

Remove lots of plugins, only keep,

1. IE Tab

2. Zotero

3. Xmarks

4. Alexa Sparky

5. Gmail Manager

Maybe all these add-ons is why I like Firefox, and not give up to Maxthon.

Have tested Maxthon which is IE Kernel, two words to describe it “like light”.

But, I do NOT like its Adv in left-bottom status bar.

If, Mathon provide Zotero and Xmarks, and discard its Adv, ……………..  Hehe, it’s impossible. It’s more like a company.

VPN Skill for Outlook and Prohibitted Websites

February 1st, 2009 admin No comments

Usually, I use VPN to update my Outlook. After succeed dial-up, the policy of company will prohibit you to visit lots of websites, such as youtube, google word, and all vicious websites he thinks. How to visit those websites and update Outlook at the same time?

This is my VPN solution:

1. Host OS: Ubuntu Linux
2. Guest OS: Microsoft Windows in VMware Workstation/Server for Linux(If you are VCP of VMware, they will send you a formal Workstation license after passing training class and VCP-310 test).
3.  CISCO VPN and Outlook software is installed in guest OS(Windows).
4. Using Linux to visit website which is prohibitted by the company’s firewall.
5. Using Windows to dial VPN, and setup VPN tunnal, Outlook will using this tunnal to receive and send email.

Since tunnel is setup by Windows, no Ubuntu, so Ubuntu can do anything without considering firewall of company. This will be helpful when you work at home.

Internet access network can be ethernet or wireless, because Windows(Virtual machine) don’t care about it, setup of physical line is job of Ubuntu.

If this article help you, I will be pleasure to hear from you.

Add a reason to use Firefox–zotero, web content collection

December 27th, 2008 admin No comments

Zotero [zoh-TAIR-oh] is a free, easy-to-use Firefox extension to help you collect, manage, and cite your research sources. It lives right where you do your work — in the web browser itself.

    Refer: http://www.zotero.org/

IT1999 says “I used to collect web content using myBase, please refer: myBase for Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/2003/Vista, until found zotero. “

Note: zotero directory can be backuped with dropbox or mozy.
