Remove most plugins of Firefox V3.5.2

August 28th, 2009 admin No comments

Today, remove most plugins in Firefox V3.5.2 in order to improve its startup speed.

It seems having no effect after clearing up.

Firefox V3.5.2 starts up  slower than IE V6.0, and often crashs.

I have reported many times about the crash related with bookmark’s operation since V2, it’s still in this version.

After you create a bookmark or folder in left side bar, move it immediately, this operation will make Firefox crash.

If you tired of Firefox, Mathon will be a good choice to replaceV3.5.2, URL: http://www.maxthon.com/

I still use Firefox because of its powerful plugins, such as Xmarks, Alexa, and Zotera.

Firefox V3.5.2 is still in pre-release version, it’s hurry to publish, and harms its reputation.

Plugins in my Firefox V3.5 now,

1. Alexa Sparky

2. Gmail Manager

3. IE Tab

4. Java Quick Starter

5. Xmarks

6. Zotero

all of them are active.

My solution of Firefox

January 15th, 2009 admin No comments

1. Using Foxmarks to synchronize bookmark between laptop and desktop PC.

2. Using Zotero to record interesting content when browsing.

3. Zotero home directory is backuped by Dropbox, so it can be restored/downloaded in different computer.

4. Using FEBE to backup addons and restore in other PCs

5. Using sync tools(lots of) to synchronize user directory of Firefox/Thunderbird from laptop to U-disk, for password, bookmark, and configuration protection.

6. Set cache 50MB.

7. Using Chromifox theme to replase colorfultabs addon which uses an ugly backupgroud picture in tabs after every upgrading.

Addons of my Firefox V3.0.5

January 15th, 2009 admin No comments

This post just records addons used in my Firefox V3.0.5

1. Alexa Sparky. For this website’s Alexa. (Dec. 6, 2008 was 5m, today is 1.5m)

2. All-in-One Sidebar. testing, maybe disable someday, installed it for study source code beside the webpage.

3. Firefox Universal Uploader. Upload images to my Picasa, re-enabled serveral days ago.

4. FEBE. Backup Addons

5. Foxmarks. The main reason I like Firefox is this addon.

6. Google Gears. Accelerate this website. maybe disable someday.

7. IE Tab. For Netbank, not feel well every time using it. IE is a disgusted word in my dictionary.

8. Jave Quick Starter. not sure. just enable it.

9. Zotero. Record some webpages and add tags and rename titles. I like it just as Foxmarks.

IT1999: The following content is copied from above URL, not represent my opinion. I use some other plugins and addons.

Firefox is the browser of dreams for many people (myself included). One of the great perks of Firefox is that there are tons of extensions that enhance the functionality of the browser. With over 1500 extensions in existence, there are many that can be used to improve your productivity. The following is my take on the top 10 extensions that will keep you focused, reduce distractions, streamline your daily work flow, and improve your productivity.

1. Customize Google
20070306-custgoog.jpg
Customize Google is a very robust extension that lets you customize many features of the services provided by Google. Customize Google lets you block advertisements on pretty much any Google page (including Gmail). It remaps Google Images search results to point directly at the images (no longer will you need to click through the originating site). Customize Google lets you add links from other search engines directly into your search results. It can also block Google click tracking and allows you to connect to Google Calendar and Gmail securely (https). Give it a try, you won’t be sorry.

Zotero [zoh-TAIR-oh] is a free, easy-to-use Firefox extension to help you collect, manage, and cite your research sources. It lives right where you do your work — in the web browser itself.

Refer: http://www.zotero.org/
