A password stealing trick masquerades as a Firefox Plugin, to filter ‘sent’ login credentials

December 6th, 2008 admin No comments

A new type of malware designed to harvest web passwords has been detected in-the-wild by BitDefender’s antivirus research labs. This latest e-threat – called Trojan.PWS.ChromeInject.A – is intended to be delivered onto a compromised computer system by other malware for subsequent download into Mozilla Firefox’s Plugin folder. Once installed it gets to work every time Firefox is started.

Change Volume ID: VolumeID v2.0

December 4th, 2008 admin No comments

Some software binds volume ID, or need check volume ID. If Windows is re-installed, volume ID will be changed.

Reapply a new software/license is a solution. Is there another simple way?

VolumeID v2.0
By Mark Russinovich
Published: November 1, 2006

Introduction
While WinNT/2K and Windows 9x’s built-in Label utility lets you change the labels of disk volumes, it does not provide any means for changing volume ids. This utiltity, VolumeID, allows you to change the ids of FAT and NTFS disks (floppies or hard drives).

Usage: volumeid <driveletter:> xxxx-xxxx

This is a command-line program that you must run from a command-prompt window.

Note that changes on NTFS volumes won’t be visible until the next reboot. In addition, you should shut down any applications you have running before changing a volume id. NT may become confused and think that the media (disk) has changed after a FAT volume id has changed and pop up messages indicating that you should reinsert the original disk (!). It may then fail the disk requests of applications using those drives.

FastStone Image Viewer: freeware

December 2nd, 2008 admin No comments

FastStone Image Viewer has similar usage and interface as ACDsee, but much little size , quick and powerful. The most important thing is that it’s a freeware. But, if you want to donate, please look at author’s website. I’m tired with ACDsee and other image viewers, whose funtion increases with software package size. I only need the primary or original function, browse the photoes in my laptop, other features is out of my consideration. FastStone Image Viewer is what I want. Wish you’ll like it .
